and it will be done when you save the diffuse texture. You can also tell MindTex that you want to multiply the occlusion texture by the diffuse texture, etc. MindTex also has a settings option to allow you to easily define basic on-export channel generation operations for instance, you can tell MindTex that you want to store the heightmap in the alpha channel of the normal map, and when you save the normal map it will be done. Saving to a project essentially saves the base texture with all the internal settings data to make transferring/storing assets created with MindTex clean and space-efficient without sacrificing the ease of re-generating the final textures with a few clicks. MindTex additionally has a project system, which CrazyBump doesn't have. Crazybump also has a batch-generate option, which MindTex does not yet have, though I have already started setting it up to include one. The main differences, as far as major features, are that CrazyBump has a normal map mixer, which allows you to take several existing normal maps and mix them together to create a composite map quickly and easily MindTex does not have this yet (though I am strongly considering adding something similar in an update, once the initial kinks are worked out). Both also include 3d previews for seeing how your final texture looks on a mesh (either a stock mesh or a custom one that you load in). Additionally, in both you are able to load from a diffuse, normal, or height map as the single source texture from which everything else gets generated.

As far as similarities, MindTex shares with CrazyBump the ability to generate normal, height, specular, and occlusion maps and the ability to tweak existing diffuse maps.
